Chappell Roan has ended her relationship with the talent agency led by powerbroker Casey Wasserman, saying the decision was driven by a responsibility to protect her team and a desire for accountability within the music industry.

Roan announced the split in a statement shared on Instagram, explaining that no artist or employee should feel pressured to excuse behaviour that clashes with their moral values.

Wasserman's name appears in recently released court documents connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which include emails he exchanged with Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003.

The emails, described as flirtatious, have drawn renewed scrutiny of Wasserman's past associations, though he has not been accused of criminal wrongdoing.

In her post, Roan did not reference Epstein or the files directly, instead stressing that meaningful change requires leadership that earns trust and aligns with artists' principles.

Wasserman, who also serves as chairman of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, has faced calls to step aside following the publication of the messages.

He has said he deeply regrets the correspondence, adding that it occurred more than two decades ago, before Maxwell's crimes were known publicly.

Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for recruiting and trafficking teenage girls who were abused by Epstein.

Wasserman has said he never had a personal or business relationship with Epstein, and that his name appearing in the files does not suggest illegal conduct.

Roan's move follows similar statements from other acts represented by the agency, who said they wanted to distance themselves from Wasserman.

Indie rock band Wednesday said they were shocked by the revelations and urged him to step down for the sake of his staff.

Another group, Beach Bunny, said they were disappointed by his past involvement with Maxwell.

Roan, a Grammy-winning artist, has previously spoken about resisting pressure to conform within the industry, and said her decision reflects a belief that artists deserve representation that supports their voices rather than silencing them.
