Jaime King has spoken out after her second husband, Austin Sosa, filed for divorce, saying the decision came as a complete shock to her.
The banker submitted divorce papers on Thursday, Jan. 22, according to reports, bringing an abrupt end to the couple's relationship just months after they quietly tied the knot. While King and Sosa had publicly confirmed their engagement in mid-2025, the exact date of their wedding was never disclosed, with multiple reports indicating the marriage was kept private.
In a statement shared with Page Six, the 46-year-old actress said she did not see the split coming. "I was completely blindsided by the divorce filing, which came out of nowhere," King said, adding that she had been with Sosa the night before the news became public. "I was with Austin the night before it became public, and while like many marriages we had normal challenges, I genuinely believed we were working on our relationship."
King also addressed speculation linking the breakup to recent sightings of her with hotelier Vikram Chatwal. She firmly denied any romantic involvement, stating that the interactions being referenced were strictly professional and unrelated to her marriage or the divorce proceedings.
"My focus right now is my work and, above all, my children," King said, urging for privacy and calling on the public to stop making assumptions. She noted that women are often unfairly scrutinized simply for doing their jobs, particularly when personal matters become public.
The Hart of Dixie alum was previously married to director Kyle Newman. The former couple wed in 2007 and finalized their divorce in 2023 after a lengthy and contentious process. King and Newman share two sons, James, 12, and Leo, 10. Much of King's recent public commentary before her marriage to Sosa emphasized prioritizing her children over wedding plans.
King and Sosa reportedly met through mutual friends in late 2024 and became engaged less than a year later. At the time, representatives described King as happy and grateful for the support she received following the engagement announcement.
As of early January, King's representatives had indicated that she was content in her relationship, making the divorce filing all the more unexpected. Representatives for King have since been contacted for further comment, while details surrounding the timing of the marriage and the reason for the separation remain unclear.
The actress has maintained that she intends to keep the matter private as she moves forward, focusing on her family and professional commitments.
