The Simple Life alum revealed on social media that she and Joel Madden's daughter, Harlow Madden, is now going by one of her two middle names, as the teen celebrates her 18th birthday on January 12.
Nicole, who also has a 16-year-old son named Sparrow Madden with her husband, wrote on Instagram, "18 years of you @katemaddennn."
Joel wrote in the comments, "That's my girl."
The couple's daughter's full name is Harlow Winter Kate Madden. As for how they came up with the lengthy moniker?
"I wanted a hippie name, and he wanted a more biblical name," Nicole explained in a 2008 People interview, with Joel mentioning that he admires actress Jean Harlow and his wife "likes Shalom Harlow the model."
The Good Charlotte singer went on, "Harlow's cool because it feels like a classic name."
Joel said he and Nicole, who married in 2010 after their two children were born, chose Winter as a middle name because the season is "so serene and quiet."
"I always liked the name Kate," she said, "but I knew I'd never name my kid that because it was just too plain."
In fact, the reality star adored the name Harlow so much that she used it to launch her House of Harlow jewelry collection in 2008. Nicole used her daughter's name again in 2010, when she launched a fashion label called Winter Kate.
"She has no idea that she has two lines named after her," Nicole told People in 2012. "I try and let her be a kid."
But these days, the mother-daughter duo frequently bonds over fashion.
"She knows that she can take anything in my closet," Nicole told E! News in May. "My mother always let me have free rein in her closet. And so I have the same vibe with my daughter."
