Kyle Chrisley, the eldest son of reality television star Todd Chrisley, was arrested in Rutherford County, Tennessee. The 34-year-old was taken into custody around 7:00 p.m. and booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center on a sweeping list of charges, including domestic assault, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
According to reports from local authorities, the situation escalated during the arrest process. Consequently, Chrisley is facing several additional counts, including resisting arrest, assaulting a first responder (three counts), and retaliation for past actions. While specific details regarding the incident that triggered the domestic assault charge have not been fully released, the volume of charges suggests a highly volatile confrontation with both civilians and law enforcement.
This arrest is the latest in a series of legal challenges for Chrisley and comes at a particularly complex time for the family. In August 2025, Kyle and his wife, Ashleigh, filed a $1.7 million lawsuit against Rutherford County and two sheriff’s deputies. That lawsuit stems from a previous arrest in September 2024 for aggravated assault, which Kyle claims was a “false arrest” involving excessive force. In that instance, Kyle alleged he was the victim of a disgruntled mechanic and was unfairly targeted by police due to his family’s notoriety.
The timing of this new arrest is notable as it occurs just months after his parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were granted full presidential pardons in May 2025, vacating their previous convictions for bank fraud and tax evasion. The current allegations involving “retaliation” and “assault on a first responder” are expected to carry significant legal weight, especially given Kyle’s active civil litigation against the same sheriff’s department.
Kyle Chrisley has been open in the past about his struggles with mental health and substance abuse, though he had recently appeared to be on a more stable path following his parents’ release. As of December 23, legal representatives for the Chrisley family have not issued a formal statement regarding the new charges. He remains a central figure in the family’s ongoing narrative as they navigate their return to public life following their high-profile legal battles.
