The Love Is Blind alum revealed that she was recently hospitalized after she and her 12-year-old daughter, Autumn, contracted severe flu.
"Friends, I've been MIA for the last couple days because the flu completely wiped our household out," Jess wrote in a Dec. 2 Instagram Story, alongside a photo of herself lying on a bed in a doctor's office. "I've never been so sick in my entire life, and that's saying A LOT."
For the 30-year-old—who appeared on season six of the Netflix dating show—the flu is particularly difficult to recover from because of her Crohn's disease diagnosis, a chronic bowel condition that causes inflammation in the digestive tract, most commonly affecting the intestines, according to Mayo Clinic.
"It's a lot harder for my body to fight off literally anything, and I get dehydrated extremely fast," Jess told me. "After a long trip to the ER, 4.5 bags of fluids and medications, and much prayer, I'm on the mend! But wow, that was terrifying and made me never want to take my health for granted again.
Her daughter's illness made matters even more difficult. As Jess pointed out, Autumn had "strep throat and the flu at the same time."
"Thankfully she recovered much more quickly than I did," she told me. "Moms know the struggle of taking care of a sick baby while you're also sick, and it's not for the faint of heart."
And while Jess is happy that her and her daughter are in good health now, she previously expressed feeling disappointed that the pair weren't able to take their annual Thanksgiving photos together.
"My sweet girl has the flu, so we're enjoying Thanksgiving from my bed this year," the Perfect Match star wrote on Instagram Nov. 27 alongside several "throwbacks" of their previous shoots. "I'm so grateful for God, my baby, my weenie dog, my family, the most beautiful friends, and this very loving, supportive community on here."
She added, "I hope you're all taking time to appreciate your blessings and the people around you today."
