Taylor Momsen is hoping for a relationship that will save her now. The Pretty Reckless singer opened up about her dating experiences and the difficulty she's had finding a companion while touring.
"I'm a very, very trusting person," Taylor admitted on the November 5 edition of Call Her Daddy. "I am a very cautious person. So, anybody I bring into my life—in any sort of relationship—there is a life tie there."
The 32-year-old added that she is not interested in "letting people into my life who are fleeting" and is instead "looking for something that has depth to it." That is fulfilling a need in my life.
Plus, despite Taylor's celebrity status, the Gossip Girl star considers herself "very normal."
"I'm a brother. "I'm a super bro," she explained. I hang out. I tour in a band with a group of guys. It is not glamorous, and it is not what people expect. So I believe I am quite average."
And what does the actress from How the Grinch Stole Christmas look for in a possible partner? She wants someone who is intelligent, nice, and, of course, amusing, stating, "Gotta be funny; gotta make me laugh."
But most importantly? "We have to have similar musical tastes, or it won't work. That is not going to work at all.
In a candid reflection on her personal and professional life, Taylor discusses her dating preferences and the challenges she faced while transitioning from acting to music. She emphasizes that she is not interested in partners who focus solely on what they can gain from her, lamenting a past where she was involved with those more concerned with her celebrity status than her identity. This experience underscored her desire for genuine connection, contrasting past relationships, particularly with men from the industry who were not particularly successful, yet sought her for their own benefit.
Taylor also recounts her struggles with leaving her role on the television series Gossip Girl, where she played a character during its fourth season. She describes her internal conflict, feeling trapped by contractual obligations with CW Warner Brothers, and the difficulty of fighting for her freedom to pursue a different path in music. She articulates her emotions during this period, admitting that the decision stemmed from a deep-seated need to follow her true passion, which stood in stark contrast to the thriving but unfulfilling acting career she was in. Despite the hardship of walking away from a prosperous career, she ultimately feels content with her choice, reflecting on the arduous (but necessary) battle to escape from a commitment that was stifling her creative aspirations.
