Bunnie XO is not running from her past. The Dumb Blonde podcast presenter, who is married to Jelly Roll, reflected on her life's ups and downs, sharing mug photographs from her seven arrests, the first of which occurred when she was only 19 years old.
"Looking at the first one, I just couldn't believe what a baby I was," Bunnie wrote in an Instagram post on November 4. "As the pictures progress, the eyes get increasingly sorrowful, broken, and drunk. The fact that I'm smiling in some of these shows you how divorced I was from myself and my feelings."
The 45-year-old (actual name Alisa DeFord) revealed that her legal issues persisted for several years while she continued to struggle with substance abuse.
“The last one was when I was 26, arrested for soliciting an undercover cop on a casino floor,” she continued. “I was deep in addiction, lost in survival mode. Add in a splash of perpetual victim mentality, and it was a recipe for disaster.”
Bunnie eventually became "sick of who [she] was as a person" and recognized she needed to "stop pointing fingers," explaining, "I was both the problem and the solution."
While Bunnie has since turned her life around, she made it clear that she was not "ashamed" of her mugshots, which she dug out to sell as merchandise for her upcoming biography, Stripped.
Bunnie's self-reflection had a significant impact on her husband, as the musician (born Jason DeFord) responded to the post by expressing how her testimony fuelled his own drive to improve himself.
"I would never have become the man I am without you," Jelly Roll, 40, wrote in response to Bunnie's article. "It was your narrative that inspired mine; it was always you. I was trying to be like. I’m glad the world is about to hear the real perseverance and see what God can really do.”
