Natalie Joy and Nick Viall are coping with a devastating loss.
Almost five months after the couple announced the loss of their second pregnancy, the Bachelor alum revealed that his wife had experienced a third miscarriage.
"As you can see, Natalie is not with us," Nick clarified during The Viall Files podcast's August 14 episode. "It fucking sucks, and there's no really good way to put it. She is clearly recuperating and resting at home, both mentally and physically.
He went on to say that because he and Natalie, who have an 18-month-old daughter named River Rose, have remained transparent about their pregnancy journey, he wanted to provide the update.
The 44-year-old acknowledged that it was "a bit of a scary time" because they had already had two miscarriages this year, despite the fact that doctors had reassured them that they could happen.
"It's far less normal to have two or three back-to-back," he stated. "At this point, we're in the terrifying process of conducting tests and learning more about ourselves. It's a strange situation where you want them to find something but don't want them to.
The reality star considered his own grief as a father, which he recognized differs greatly from Natalie's.
"There's an immediate bond and a connection that I think is very unique for mothers," he said. "For the dads out there, you're trying to strike this balance between grieving yourself but also just keeping life together and keeping the family going."
He went on to say, "There is a tragedy there that makes you feel very alone for those who do experience it. Natalie is going through that at the moment.
The 25-year-old Nick and Natalie are still grieving, but he revealed that his wife is "doing OK physically and healing."
In spite of the heartache, they have also kept their eyes on the bright side, with the Bachelor Nation star highlighting, "We have a lot of amazing blessings in our life—the first and foremost being River."
"We were very lucky to have a fairly easy pregnancy," he explained. "It's just like really no complications, which was such an amazing blessing. Despite what's going on right now with us, our doctor keeps reminding us that that is the best sign of our future ability to grow our family."
Following her March miscarriage, Natalie posted on her Instagram Stories, "While mourning the loss of our second baby at the beginning of this year, I quickly and very unexpectedly found out I was pregnant again." This is her most recent personal update.
"It took some time for me to accept what had happened, only to be handed another chance so easily and so fast," she said. But in the end, I discovered a great deal of joy. At last, we had reached a state of total and total appreciation. I had another miscarriage this past week.
In addition to thanking everyone for their support during her recuperation, the surgical tech stated, "It will take some time for me to feel like myself again, and honestly, I may never."
She concluded, "Going back to squeezing my husband and my sweet angel River Rose, who are truly the reason I have survived this time and time again."
