Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio says his 50th birthday has prompted a reevaluation of how he spends his time and with whom. Speaking to Esquire in an interview published August 13, the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" star reflected on the milestone with candor.

"It creates a feeling like you have a desire to just be more honest and not waste your time," DiCaprio said, adding that he now takes inspiration from his mother's directness. "She wastes no time trying to fake it," he noted.

The actor explained that this shift in perspective extends to both personal and professional relationships. "You have to be much more upfront," he said. "Much more of your life is behind you than it is ahead of you."

Despite his new outlook, DiCaprio insists he does not feel his age, joking that he "turned emotionally 35 last year." Part of that youthful spirit, he suggested, comes from his relationship with model Vittoria Ceretti, 27, whom he began dating in 2023.

Ceretti, speaking to Vogue France earlier this year, expressed a similarly grounded view of their relationship. "If what you're experiencing is real, if you know you love each other, then there's no reason to be alarmed," she said.

DiCaprio has long been known for his selective approach to public life, balancing blockbuster roles with environmental activism. Turning 50, he says, has only deepened his commitment to being deliberate about how he invests his energy.
