Angelina Jolie is taking steps to leave Los Angeles behind, preparing to sell her storied estate and explore life overseas once her youngest children reach adulthood.

The Oscar-winning actress, 50, bought the famed Cecil B. DeMille residence in 2017 for $24.5 million. The 1913-built property spans 11,000 square feet, featuring six bedrooms, ten bathrooms, manicured gardens, a pool, and a tea house. Its Hollywood pedigree is unmatched, DeMille purchased it in 1916, later merging it with the neighboring home once owned by Charlie Chaplin.

A source close to Jolie says she never intended to settle in Los Angeles long term but remained due to a custody arrangement with ex-husband Brad Pitt. The former couple, who finalized their divorce in late 2024 after an eight-year legal battle, share six children: Maddox, 24; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 19; and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.

"She's always envisioned living abroad," the insider explains. "Once Knox and Vivienne turn 18 next year, she plans to relocate, she's already considering several destinations."

Before listing the estate, Jolie reportedly intends to make minor improvements to the property, which has been described as both a historic masterpiece and one of Los Angeles' architectural treasures.

Jolie has spoken openly about her desire to live outside the United States. In a 2024 interview, she said she remains in Los Angeles "because I have to be here from a divorce," adding that her dream is to give her family "privacy, peace, and safety" in a place with a different cultural rhythm.

When her twins are grown, Jolie expects to spend significant time in Cambodia, where she adopted her eldest son in 2002, and travel to visit family around the world.

The planned move would place her among a growing number of Hollywood figures leaving the city in recent years. While no timeline has been officially confirmed, those close to Jolie suggest her departure could happen soon after her youngest children turn 18.

For now, the historic estate remains her base, but its days as Jolie's primary home appear numbered.
