Machine Gun Kelly used his new album to address his split with Megan Fox and a secret rehab stay. Lost Americana arrived on August 8, 2025 and centers confession at its core. The record is his seventh studio album.
On the track 'Treading Water' he sings 'I broke this home' and vows to change for his daughter. The couple welcomed daughter Saga in March 2025. They split in November 2024 after Fox reportedly found messages from other women on his phone. Kelly is 35 and Fox is 39.
On the New York Times Popcast he said he spent late November and December in a rehab facility. He said neither he nor Fox had publicly commented at the time.  He offers lines like 'The beast killed the beauty; the last petal fell from the rose' and 'I loved you truly'. He admits that lies grow and that hidden things eventually surface.
After his release he began a four day water fast. He described the fast as delirious and physically harsh. He also described sheltering as nearby wildfires neared his home and rescuing pieces of art.
Fox is credited as a composer on the track 'Orpheus'. Kelly said he is focused on being a better father and that music will shape his child's early days. "I actually don't have to steal diapers from Walmart."
On social media one fan wrote 'kells spending christmas in rehab all alone has me sobbing'. One fan on X wrote 'i need 8 business days to recover'. He has had prior treatment runs before, which he referenced without detail. Early coverage called it a return to candid work. Outlets like Page Six and InStyle reported his comments.
He told the Popcast that 'the world was very loud about me and my personal business'. Fans praised the candid lyrics. Reps for both have not responded. The duo were first linked in 2020. He is a Grammy nominee. Coverage remains intense.
