Mason Dye, best known for his role as Jason Carver in Netflix's hit series Stranger Things, is engaged to longtime girlfriend Carmen Joiner.

The couple, who met through a mutual friend they have both known for over a decade, began dating more than four years ago. Their relationship had an unforgettable start: "Our first date was over two of our favourite things, espresso martinis and breakfast for dinner at a restaurant in Atlanta, and we pretty much fell in love that night," Joiner told People.

Although they had discussed marriage before, Carmen admitted the proposal caught her off guard. "He proposed on Valentine's Day at the lake in our neighbourhood, it's a spot we walk to all the time, and it's really special to us, but Valentine's Day felt way too obvious, so it completely went over my head," she recalled.

Mason, 31, secretly began planning in November, taking advice from his sister, Tae Dye of country duo Maddie & Tae, to use the holiday as the perfect cover. To keep Carmen guessing, he arranged fake dinner reservations at one of their favourite restaurants. "After he proposed, he surprised me with a stay at Chateau Elan in North Georgia, where we celebrated just the two of us and spent the next day at the spa," she said.

The surprises didn't end there. Upon returning home, the couple was greeted by friends, family, and their cat, Willow, for a celebration. Mason's parents even travelled from Oklahoma to be part of the moment.

The pair plan to marry on June 7, 2026, their fifth anniversary, at the Wychmere Beach Club in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the same area where they took their engagement photos. "We knew we wanted a destination in a fun place since our friends and family were from all over the states," Carmen explained. "We also wanted something that felt coastal and romantic, something on the water, and somewhere all of our friends and family would be excited to visit. Cape Cod checked all the boxes."

Sharing the news publicly, they posted lakeside proposal photos on Instagram with the caption, "here's to forever." Friends, including Stranger Things co-star Caleb McLaughlin, offered their congratulations.

Away from wedding planning, Mason is set to appear in The Boys prequel Vought Rising on Amazon Prime Video, playing "Bombsight," a combat pilot-turned-junkie. Filming begins later this month, ahead of the show's debut.
