The size of Jessa Duggar's family has grown. After seven and a half hours of labor, the 19 Kids and Counting alum and husband Ben Seewald welcomed their sixth child on August 2.
In a YouTube video posted on August 4, Jessa said, "I just cried when the baby was born and everything was okay," without disclosing the newborn's name or sex. "I'm crying, and the baby is crying." We are incredibly grateful for this wonderful moment.
With the baby, the family now has eight children: Spurgeon, 9; Henry, 8; Ivy, 5; Fern, 3; and George, 1.
In a March Instagram post that included sonograms of their unborn child, the couple first revealed their pregnancy. Jessa wrote, "Halfway to holding you in our arms!" as the caption.
In addition to sharing many aspects of her life with fans, such as her adolescence and 2014 marriage to Ben, Jessa, the fifth oldest of Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar's 19 children, has also been open about the challenges the couple has had growing their family.
She talked about finding out that another pregnancy wasn't viable in 2022, two years after disclosing that she had lost a pregnancy.
In a YouTube video posted in February 2023, the reality TV star said, "There was nothing that could have prepared me for the weight of those words in that moment." "In that instant, I was just in complete shock. I didn’t have words. I just immediately started crying.”
She and Ben, who come from a big family, never gave up on their dreams of expanding.
The 32-year-old declared in a September 2023 YouTube video that she was expecting George: "God has blessed us with a rainbow baby." "We are incredibly grateful for this priceless life as a gift."
"Every heartbeat heard, every ultrasound seen, every appointment with a good report… the worries fade a bit more," she added on Instagram the following month. We are incredibly blessed by God.
Additionally, her brother Jedidiah Duggar and his wife, Katey Duggar, welcomed twin baby girls in January, adding to the growing extended Duggar family as Jessa and Ben welcomed their sixth child—Jim Bob and Michelle's 37th grandchild.
Yes, Jim. Bob and Michelle have 37 grandchildren now.
In the meantime, later this year, Jeremiah and Hannah Duggar are expecting their third child. In addition, Jinger Duggar Vuolo and her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, are expecting their third child.
Additionally, it can be challenging to keep track of who is who as the Duggar family tree grows, particularly for the younger members.
Indeed, Jinger recently disclosed that her daughters, Evangeline Vuolo, 4, and Felicity Vuolo, 6, struggled to recall everyone's names during the holidays.
“I think that it was so sweet too for Felicity and Evie to get that time with their cousins because they really, really love them,” she shared on the Jan. 1 episode of the Jinger & Jeremy Podcast. “They forget half of the names. I feel like half the cousins forget each other's names too. Not each other's names—the older ones, like the aunts and uncles. There are just so many to remember.”
