Mariah Carey is sharing a rare glimpse into her co-parenting dynamic with ex-husband Nick Cannon. The singer, 56, who usually keeps her personal life private, spoke to Harper's Bazaar about raising her 14-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, alongside Cannon. The two divorced in 2016 but have continued to share parental responsibilities.

"How do I say this? They spend time with him, and they have a good time; they spend time with me, and they have a good time," Carey explained. "I want to make sure I'm always fair about the situation because it's tough to grow up with divorced parents."

Though no longer a couple, Carey and Cannon have consistently maintained a supportive relationship for the sake of their children, affectionately known as "dem kids."

Back in 2019, Carey spoke to People about the bond she shares with her twins. "They're a lot, but they give me so much love in return. I wouldn't be the same person without them," she said. She also acknowledged the efforts she and Cannon have made to co-parent respectfully. "I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk."

Carey has also been open about her children's talents and ambitions. Speaking to People in December, she expressed support for their interest in performing. "I think they're both very talented and smart, and if they want to pursue having a life as entertainers, then I think they should," she said. "It's a hard kind of life, but they seem to really love performing, so I'm happy for them."

In April, Cannon celebrated his twins' 14th birthday with a heartfelt Instagram post. He shared a video of their celebration, revealing that the kids chose not to have a traditional party. "Happy Birthday to my Firstborns! 14 years old! Somebody slow this thing down! Please!" he wrote. "They didn't even want a birthday party. They said they are too cool for that! LOL."

Instead, Moroccan and Monroe celebrated at an escape room experience with friends. "They had a blast, and they let the old man tag along as a chaperone!" Cannon added. "I love you guys with everything I got and beyond."
