Just weeks after ending her long-standing engagement with Orlando Bloom, pop icon Katy Perry was seen dining with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Montreal, prompting speculation about a new connection between the two public figures.
On the evening of July 28, Perry and Trudeau were spotted at Le Violon, a popular Montreal bistro known for its refined local cuisine. Sources confirmed to multiple outlets that the two arrived together and were later seen thanking the staff in the kitchen, joined briefly by chef Danny Smiles. TMZ reported that the pair enjoyed cocktails and a seafood-forward meal, including a lobster dish.
The meeting follows major life changes for both individuals. Perry, 40, confirmed her split from actor Orlando Bloom in June, after nearly a decade of an on-again, off-again relationship and a six-year engagement. A joint statement from the couple's representatives described the decision as a transition "toward a co-parenting partnership," with their daughter, four-year-old Daisy Dove, remaining their shared priority.
Despite the breakup, Perry and Bloom appeared together publicly just days later, vacationing off Italy's Amalfi Coast aboard a yacht alongside Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. The former couple was photographed looking relaxed, a sign of their stated commitment to amicability.
Meanwhile, Trudeau, 53, has been navigating personal change of his own. In August 2023, he and his wife of 18 years, Sophie Grégoire, publicly announced their separation. The statement, shared on his official Instagram, emphasized "deep love and respect" and the importance of family continuity. Trudeau, who shares three children with Grégoire, asked for privacy during what he called "a deeply personal process."
Though neither Perry nor Trudeau has commented publicly on their recent outing, their high-profile dinner has sparked attention online and in Canadian media. The timing, coinciding with Perry's "Lifetimes" tour stops in five Canadian cities, has only fueled speculation.
