Kelly Clarkson isn't rushing back into the dating scene anytime soon. While performing at her Studio Sessions residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the singer opened up to fans about her reasons for staying single.

"Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don't," Clarkson said on stage, in a moment shared on TikTok. "It's hard anyway. Add a spotlight and it's like a... dumpster fire."

Clarkson, 43, was married to Brandon Blackstock for almost seven years before they split in 2020. Their divorce was finalized in 2022 after a drawn-out legal battle over custody and finances. They share two kids: River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9.

While talking to the crowd, Clarkson also reflected on how tough relationships have been since her early years. "You hope you grow in the same direction if you stayed with someone long enough," she said. "It can be like this tug of war.."

Her children have made it clear they're not comfortable with the idea of her dating again, often expressing that they don't want to see her with anyone besides their father. Despite their feelings, Clarkson has been upfront with them about her own need for companionship.

After relocating to New York for a fresh start, Clarkson revealed that Los Angeles no longer felt like the right place for her. Although she had initially hoped to move to Montana, she ultimately settled on New York as the most practical choice.

She has also reflected on how patterns in relationships often repeat across generations, sharing during a May show in Atlantic City that she found herself following a similar path to the one taken by her parents.

Despite the chaos, Clarkson says she's doing well now and having a good time.
