Scooter Braun has addressed speculation linking Taylor Swift's 2022 track "Vigilante Shit" to his separation from Yael Cohen, insisting the lyrics have no connection to their relationship or divorce.

In a recent appearance on the Question Everything podcast, Braun pushed back against ongoing fan theories, clarifying the nature of his bond with his ex-wife. "No, 'cause I talk to Yael every day," he said. "My ex-wife is one of my best friends. So, me and my ex-wife laugh about that stuff. We don't even call each other 'ex.' That's, like, my partner. She's the mother of my children and that is my family for life." Braun also shared that he has a "same team" tattoo, that symbolizes their united co-parenting.

To rumours about the pointed lyrics, Braun brushed them off calling them a "great strategy move" and maintaining, "She never thought it was about us and everyone else kind of feeding into the fire."

Tensions between Braun and Swift date back to 2019, when Braun's company, Ithaca Holdings, purchased Big Machine Records, gaining ownership of the masters from Swift's first six albums. Shortly after the deal, Swift took to Tumblr to express her dismay, describing the situation as her "worst case scenario" and accusing Braun of "incessant, manipulative bullying." She also stated that the sale had "stripped" her of her creative work.

Braun responded to these claims, stating, "When Taylor says that she wasn't offered the masters, the reason I was under NDA was because we were in negotiations to sell it back to her. I just choose to believe her that maybe they didn't tell her." He added clearing things up.

By the end of 2020, Braun completed the sale of Swift's music catalog to Shamrock Holdings in a transaction estimated at around $300 million. Swift later opted not to collaborate with the firm, pointing to Braun's ongoing financial ties to the catalog as the reason.

Despite the controversy, Braun noted that all parties involved won.
