Nicolas Cage has finally broken his silence on the decades-old rumors surrounding his brief romance with Sarah Jessica Parker. His response came just hours after Parker confirmed on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that the two indeed dated following their 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas.

"I cared about Sarah, but I don't think I passed the mom test," Cage revealed in a candid statement to E! News on Monday. The actor, now 61, offered a glimpse into a moment that seemed to mark the turning point of their relationship.

According to Cage, the fateful evening unfolded at the iconic Russian Tea Room, where he joined Parker and her mother, Barbara Parker, for dinner. "I recall sitting down with her and her mother for dinner at the Russian Tea Room," he said. "I don't know if it was my blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket, which I still have, or my sinusitis, but I didn't hear from her again."

Parker's confirmation, which aired on July 13, came as a surprise to many. When host Andy Cohen asked point-blank if she dated Cage, the Sex and the City star replied simply, "Yes, I did." The straightforward admission ended years of speculation surrounding the chemistry the two shared during the filming of Honeymoon in Vegas.

Although the relationship was short-lived, both stars moved on to build notable personal lives. Cage has since married five times and is currently with actress Riko Shibata. The couple married in February 2021 and welcomed their daughter, August Francesca Coppola Cage, the following year. He also has two sons from previous relationships—Weston, 34, and Kal-El, 19.

Parker, meanwhile, met actor Matthew Broderick shortly after her split from Cage. The two married in 1997 and share three children. She has maintained a relatively low profile about her past relationships, making this recent admission all the more significant.

While Parker's team has not commented further, Cage's nostalgic recollection adds a layer of tenderness to a story long clouded by hearsay. His remarks reflect a man looking back with sincerity, rather than regret.
