Whitney Purvis is having legal problems. The 16 and Pregnant celebrity was taken into custody on July 7 in Floyd County, Georgia, for involuntary manslaughter, according to police records.

According to a police summary of criminal accusations, Purvis is also accused of two offenses using controlled substances. The first charge is a felony for having a prohibited substance with the intention of distributing it, and the second is a misdemeanor for "using a communication facility in commission of a felony involving controlled substances."

An arrest document attests to the arrest's connection to a February 16 incident.

"Whitney Blake Purvis did commit the offense of aggravated involuntary manslaughter," according to the affidavit, "when she purposefully gave the victim a substance presented as 'tranq,' commonly known as Xylazine and Fentanyl, without intending to cause the death of another human being, which directly contributed to the victim's death due to a toxic overdose."

Purvis, the mother of her son Weston Gosa Jr., has been arrested following his death at the age of 16. Purvis shared more details about his passing, including allegations that her ex and Weston's father could have helped prevent his death. Purvis claimed that her son had diabetes, Addison's disease, and alpha-one antitrypsin deficiency and had no medical insurance. She also alleged that her son should have had medical coverage under her custody agreement with her ex, with whom she also shares 11-year-old son River. Purvis claimed that her son should have had a Dexcom/glucose monitor that alerted him when his sugar was going up or down to a dangerous level. Purvis shared her thoughts on how she was managing following Weston's death, stating that she couldn't distract herself and couldn't even pick up her phone. She couldn't imagine a future now or going on after this.
