Grammy-winning artist Lizzo is no stranger to candid conversation, and in her latest interview, she opened up about a deeply personal topic: her weight loss journey. During a revealing discussion on the June 19 episode of the Just Trish podcast with host Trisha Paytas, Lizzo confirmed she had tried Ozempic and other GLP-1 medications before deciding they were not the right fit for her lifestyle and goals.

GLP-1 drugs, including Ozempic, were initially developed to treat type 2 diabetes but have recently become popular as weight-loss aids. Lizzo admitted she experimented with them but soon realized that long-term results required more than medication. "Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? But if you can just do that on your own, it's the same thing," she said.

The 37-year-old star revealed that a major turning point in her health came not from pharmaceuticals but from her diet. A former vegan, Lizzo said her plant-based routine left her constantly hungry and reliant on overly processed alternatives. "I was eating a lot of fake meats, bread, and rice just to feel full," she noted.

Eventually, she reintroduced animal proteins like beef, chicken, and fish into her meals. The results were immediate and significant. "When I started eating whole foods again, I wasn't expanding my stomach with fake things. I was actually satisfied," Lizzo explained. She credited this shift toward clean, whole-food eating for the physical and emotional progress she has experienced since 2023.

Despite moving away from GLP-1 drugs, Lizzo expressed empathy for those who choose to use them, cautioning against judgment. "It's not easy," she said. "It's a drug to help someone with something they're struggling with." She went on to say that criticism of those who use weight loss medication often reveals underlying fatphobia. "Calling someone a cheat for taking a prescribed medication isn't fair," she added.

Lizzo's openness is consistent with her reputation for honesty and body positivity. Her journey highlights a broader conversation around health, body image, and the pressure celebrities face in public life. Though her approach may have changed, her message remains the same—confidence and wellness should never come at the cost of authenticity.

As she continues to evolve both artistically and personally, Lizzo's story offers insight and encouragement to fans navigating their own health journeys. Through honesty, reflection, and a bit of trial and error, she's showing that self-care is not a one-size-fits-all formula.
