Gigi Paris, model and former girlfriend of actor Glen Powell, recently shared her side of the story on a popular podcast, shedding light on the tumultuous events surrounding their breakup more than two years ago. Speaking on Emma Klipstein's Too Much podcast, Paris candidly discussed the challenges leading to their split and addressed persistent rumors involving Powell and his co-star Sydney Sweeney during their promotional tour for the rom-com Anyone But You.
The couple, whose relationship spanned three years, officially parted ways in April 2023 amidst speculation about Powell's chemistry with Sweeney. Paris recounted that the cracks in their relationship began to surface six months before their breakup, exacerbated by public scrutiny and media speculation regarding Powell's professional relationships.
During the podcast episode released on June 10, Paris expressed her frustration over the handling of their breakup, emphasizing a pivotal phone call from Powell that ultimately signaled the end of their relationship. She recounted feeling betrayed and disrespected, especially as rumors of Powell's involvement with Sweeney circulated online.
"I just wanted respect, especially if it's gonna be public," Paris remarked, reflecting on the aftermath of their split. "Like, don't make an ass out of me. Just have some decency, you know?"
Paris also criticized Powell's silence on the matter, lamenting his failure to address the rumors promptly. "Where are you when you just need to stand up and say, 'No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend. I wouldn't do that,'" she stated, highlighting the emotional toll of their highly publicized breakup.
Amidst the turmoil, Powell and Sweeney's onscreen chemistry during promotional events for Anyone But You fueled further speculation. However, Sweeney later clarified in interviews that their interactions were part of promoting their film and did not extend beyond a professional context.
In response to these revelations, Powell acknowledged the challenges of navigating personal issues amidst a demanding promotional schedule. He admitted that the media attention surrounding his relationship with Sweeney made it difficult to maintain privacy during a sensitive period of his life.
For Paris, the ordeal underscored the complexities of dating in the public eye and the impact of professional commitments on personal relationships. Despite the challenges, Paris expressed a desire for closure and wished Powell and Sweeney well in their endeavors.
