Miley Cyrus finally clarified whether or not her gold dress from the "Flowers" music video was a deliberate jab at Jennifer Lawrence, who costarred with her ex-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth in the Hunger Games.

As fans have long conjectured, the 33-year-old's gold, hooded dress from the 2023 music video for her song "Flowers" has recently made a reappearance after a fan asked her if the outfit was a jab at Jennifer Lawrence.

In the May 27 TikTok, Miley replied, "No, but I adore that dress of hers."

For those who might not be aware, there were rumors that Jennifer and Miley's ex-husband Liam Hemsworth had a romantic liaison while they were filming the Hunger Games franchise. This was in addition to Miley and Liam's ten-year, intermittent relationship. (For her part, Jennifer has only ever given in to a single kiss off-screen with Liam following their breakup.)

So, when Miley released the “Flowers” music video, which opened with her walking in a gold dress very similar to one worn by Jennifer to the 2012 premiere of the first Hunger Games film, fans speculated the look was an intentional callback to the drama. After all, “Flowers” was largely believed by fans to be inspired by Miley and Liam’s 2019 divorce.

Later in the interview, Jennifer—who shares two children with husband Cooke Maroney—spoke further to the impact the rumors had on her.

“It’s really hard when, you know, if five people at a party think you slept with somebody's boyfriend, for example, it's really upsetting,” she noted. “And then you multiply it by—I'm not good at the math—8 billion.”

The Grammy winner, who is currently dating Maxx Morando, has made the infrequent remark regarding her ten years with her co-star in The Last Song since Miley and Liam permanently parted ways. (As for Liam, he started romance rumors with Gabriella Brooks in late 2019 and is currently dating her.)

Miley, a Hannah Montana alum, said in one of a number of videos she posted to TikTok in September 2023, reflecting on her life, that she realized her and Liam's eight-month marriage had ended while she was performing at the Glastonbury Festival in 2019.

She described how difficult it was to perform on stage, saying, "The day of the show was the day that I had decided that it was no longer going to work in my life to be in that relationship." "There was yet another instance where the character, the performance, and the work took precedence. I suppose that's why I now find it so crucial that that's not the case. Humans come first.
