Rock legend Jon Bon Jovi recently celebrated his 36th wedding anniversary with wife Dorothea Bongiovi by sharing a touching Instagram post that charmed fans and showcased their decades-long love story. The 63-year-old singer commemorated the occasion with a romantic tribute, posting a photo of a bouquet and writing, "36 roses for 36 amazing years. Happy anniversary my love."
The carousel of images also included a rare throwback from their wedding day. In the picture, a young Jon, donning his signature long hair and a blue suit with the jacket slung over his shoulder to reveal a tattoo, stands beside Dorothea, 62, who wore a white strapless dress with lace gloves. Another image showed the iconic Graceland Wedding Chapel sign in Las Vegas, which read: "The original world famous home of ceremonies with the 'king.' Rock star Bon Jovi was married here."
Fans flooded the comments with love and admiration. One wrote, "I love this couple! Happy anniversary," while another added, "May your day be filled with love, and may you enjoy another 36 springs together!"
The couple, who met as high school sweethearts in New Jersey, eloped in 1989 at the famous chapel. Reflecting on that spontaneous decision, Jon recalled in a 2024 interview with PEOPLE, "We were in Los Angeles, the band was on the road on the New Jersey tour... I said, 'I need a higher high — I got an idea. Let's go to Vegas now.' And she said, 'Now?' I said, 'Now.'"
However, their journey has not been without challenges. In a candid 2024 interview with ABC News' Michael Strahan, Jon opened up about the realities of fame and fidelity. "I got away with murder. I'll say it again on camera. I'm a rock 'n' roll star. I'm not a saint," he admitted. Despite temptations, Jon emphasized his devotion to his family, stating, "There is no doubt in my mind that this world revolves because of her, because of what she did to keep the kids right, what she does to keep me right, what we do together to keep it right."
Together, Jon and Dorothea have four children: Stephanie, 31, Jesse, 30, Jake, 22, and Romeo, 21 — a testament to their enduring bond over the decades.
