Alexandra Eala stunned five-time grand slam champion Iga Świątek at the Miami Open, winning in straight sets to reach her first career semifinal. The 19-year-old wild card won 6-2, 7-5, showcasing power and precision with her lefty forehand and return of serve.

Ostapenko set the tone early by breaking Sabalenka's serve in the opening game of the match. From there, she maintained consistent pressure, using aggressive baseline play and taking advantage of Sabalenka's uncharacteristic errors. The Belarusian struggled to find her rhythm, especially on serve, and Ostapenko capitalized on the opportunity with clinical precision.
The second set began just as the first had, with Ostapenko breaking Sabalenka's serve once again. She then dominated the set, breaking two more times as Sabalenka's performance unravelled. In a stunning display of momentum, Ostapenko closed the match by winning five consecutive games, sealing her victory in emphatic fashion.
"I'm really happy today," Ostapenko said during the trophy ceremony. Turning to her opponent, she added, "It is great to share the court with you. You are such a great champion."
The victory marks Ostapenko's ninth WTA singles title and her first on clay since her remarkable French Open win in 2017. Her path to the Stuttgart crown was impressive, having also defeated world number two Iga Swiatek in the quarterfinals, showcasing the 27-year-old's formidable form.
For Sabalenka, this loss was particularly disheartening as it marked her fourth consecutive defeat in a Stuttgart Open final. She previously fell short against Ash Barty in 2021 and Iga Swiatek in both 2022 and 2023. Despite another runner-up finish, Sabalenka remained gracious in defeat.
"Congratulations Jelena on a great week. You were a better player than me today and that's it," she said. Reflecting on her continued misfortune at the tournament, she added with a smile, "It's not for me every year [here], but maybe next year."
With this significant win, Ostapenko sends a strong message ahead of the clay court season, reaffirming her prowess on the surface and setting high expectations for the months to come.

Denmark is making history by shutting down its national letter delivery service at the end of 2025, signaling the end of a 400-year tradition. PostNord, the country's state-run postal service, announced the decision due to a staggering 90% decline in letter volumes since the start of the century. Beginning in June, Denmark's 1,500 post boxes will begin disappearing as the country fully embraces digital communication.
