The most recent serve from Naomi Osaka was challenging. The tennis player disclosed that she sustained a hand injury on the court three days after losing in the 2025 French Open on May 26. The 27-year-old shared a picture of three excruciating blisters on her knuckles on her Instagram Stories on May 29. According to the New York Post, Naomi wrote at the time, "I really cannot bend these fingers all the way." After losing to 27-year-old Paula Badosa of Spain in the opening round of the tournament, she then shared a little bit about her mental state. "Me: I'm going to take a short break because I'm tired of this."

She posted a picture of herself training on a green court with the caption, "Me a day after my match because I have anxiety if I don't work out," so the idea of putting her career on hold didn't last long.

The four-time Grand Slam champion has been coping with the wound since she participated in the Italian Open on May 12, but she is overcoming it. She and her ex-boyfriend Cordae have a 21-month-old daughter named Shai.

"I have had blisters on my hands since Rome," Naomi said, clearly upset, during the post-French Open press conference. "I don't have blisters on any other surface, so I think it's the friction of clay."

The athlete also expressed her frustration with herself after losing the competition. .

She went on to say, "I think as time goes on, I think I should be doing better," before mentioning Serena Williams' former coach Patrick Mouratoglou. "I detest letting people down. As I was thinking just now, Patrick goes from working with the best player ever to thinking, "What the f--k is this?"

However, on May 8, Naomi won the L'Open 35 de Saint-Malo tournament in spite of this defeat. Given that it is her first WTA title since winning the trophy at the 2021 Australian Open, where she defeated Serena, this victory is significant for her.

She wrote on Instagram about the French match, "It's kind of ironic to win my first trophy back on the surface that I thought was my worst." “That’s one of my favorite things about life though, there’s always room to grow and evolve. Thanks to everyone accompanying me on this journey, I know it’s turbulent but it’s also really fun and I’m grateful.”
