Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Esa Pole has announced his engagement to his longtime partner, Mereosi, adding to a growing list of Chiefs players celebrating major milestones during the NFL offseason.
The 24-year-old shared the exciting news in a joint Instagram post with his fiancée on Wednesday, June 17. The announcement comes just a week after Chiefs center Creed Humphrey revealed his own engagement and less than a month after defensive end Ashton Gillotte tied the knot.
Alongside photos from the proposal, Mereosi reflected on the couple's journey together with a heartfelt caption.
"God wrote our love story long before we met ❤️💍," she wrote, before referencing the Bible passage 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and adding, "Here's to a lifetime with you my love ♾️."
The well-known scripture describes the qualities of enduring love, emphasizing patience, kindness, trust, hope and perseverance, making it a fitting choice for the couple's engagement announcement.
Pole planned an elaborate outdoor proposal in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia. Photos shared on Instagram captured a romantic setup featuring a pathway lined with red rose petals leading to a heart-shaped floral arch made of deep red flowers. White candles surrounded the display, while a glowing "Will You Marry Me?" sign hung in the center. Additional floral arrangements and candle displays completed the picturesque setting.
The Chiefs lineman got down on one knee to ask the big question before presenting Mereosi with a pear-shaped diamond engagement ring. He also surprised her with a bouquet of red roses wrapped with a black ribbon bearing the words, "Mr. And Mrs. Pole."
The announcement quickly drew congratulatory messages from teammates. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes commented, "Congrats!!" while Creed Humphrey added, "Congrats brother!"
Although Pole has become a familiar face for Kansas City fans, he and Mereosi have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight. It remains unclear how long the couple has been together, as they have shared few details publicly.
Pole is preparing to enter his second NFL season with the Chiefs after joining the team last year. Off the field, however, he is now celebrating one of the biggest moments of his personal life.
The engagement also continues what has become a joyful offseason for several members of the Chiefs organization, with weddings and engagements making headlines as players prepare for the upcoming NFL campaign.
