The 22-year-old footballer has purchased a 1.2 percent share in the team, marking his entry into sports ownership while still in the early stages of his career. The Birmingham Phoenix franchise was among eight teams in The Hundred that were opened up for private investment last year as part of a wider restructuring of the competition.
American investment firm Knighthead Capital Management, which also owns Birmingham City, Bellingham's former club, secured a 49 percent stake in the franchise for around £40 million. Warwickshire County Cricket Club retained its majority holding with 51 percent ownership.
As part of the agreement, Bellingham has taken a 0.6 percent share from Knighthead and a further 0.6 percent from Warwickshire. This adjustment leaves Warwickshire with a slightly reduced controlling stake of 50.4 percent while still maintaining overall control of the team structure.
The total value of Bellingham's investment is reported to be close to £1 million, and the deal is expected to be formally confirmed on Wednesday.
Bellingham's involvement reflects his personal interest in cricket. He is known to be a fan of the sport and played junior cricket during his early years at Hagley Cricket Club in Worcestershire. His sporting background beyond football has often been highlighted, particularly his appreciation for English cricket.
In a previous interview last year, Bellingham was asked which sportsperson he would choose to swap lives with. He named England Test captain Ben Stokes, citing admiration for his leadership and performances on the international stage.
The Knighthead Capital group, which is linked to Bellingham's investment, also includes former NFL star Tom Brady as part of its ownership and advisory network. The group has been expanding its presence in sports ownership across football and cricket, with Birmingham Phoenix becoming one of its latest ventures.
Bellingham's move adds to a growing trend of elite athletes investing in sports franchises beyond their primary disciplines, reflecting both commercial opportunity and personal passion for multiple sports.
