One of the TLC stars has passed away. Charity Pierce, best known for chronicling her weight loss journey on My 600-lb Life, has died, according to her daughter Charly Jo. She was fifty.
Charly shared the sad news in a Facebook post on Jan. 27, noting that her mother was "finally at peace," but she did not specify the cause of death.
"I wasn't going to post about this," she wrote in the post, which included a close-up photo of her holding her mother's hand, per TMZ. "But... the calling and texting are making my head feel like it's on fire."
Clarifying that "almost all immediate family knows," Charly went on to say, "My mother died today. She's up with her mother, brother, and sister, and she's finally at peace.
She added, "Fly high, Momma. I hope you understand how much I love you and how grateful I was to be by your side as you took your final breath."
Charity gained recognition for her appearance on season three of My 600-lb Life in 2015, where she began her journey weighing 778 pounds. The series highlighted her struggles with health issues, surgery complications, and family trauma linked to obesity. Throughout her journey, she managed to lose 282 pounds, reaching 496 pounds. In the follow-up special, My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?, Charity expressed her determination to start anew, discussing the importance of a healthy diet, sobriety, and reconnecting with her daughter Charly. She acknowledged feeling a sense of
awakening and motivation, which she attributed to Charly's difficult choices that inspired change in her life. Despite the challenges faced, including past family distance and emotional turmoil, Charity conveyed gratitude for her transformative journey over the past five years, feeling more empowered than ever to embrace life, seek employment, and regain agency in her life.
