The Shelby family saga is far from over. Netflix and the BBC have confirmed that Peaky Blinders will return in the form of a sequel series, following the upcoming feature film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

The new chapter, created by Steven Knight, will shift the story into the 1950s, focusing on the aftermath of World War II and the rise of a new generation of Shelbys. Set in 1953, the series will explore Birmingham as it rebuilds from devastation.

The official logline describes it as: "After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight's Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham's massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart."

Knight expressed his excitement about extending the story, saying: "I'm thrilled to be announcing this new chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. Once again it will be rooted in Birmingham and will tell the story of a city rising from the ashes of the Birmingham blitz. The new generation of Shelbys have taken the wheel and it will be a hell of a ride."

The sequel has already received a two-season order, with each season consisting of six hour-long episodes. Filming will take place in Birmingham at Knight's Digbeth Loc. Studios, with production handled by Kudos and Garrison Drama, the same companies behind the original series. Executive producers include Knight and original star Cillian Murphy, alongside Karen Wilson, Martin Haines, Jamie Glazebrook, Jo McClellan, Mona Qureshi, and others.

While casting details remain under wraps, Murphy will not reprise his role as Tommy Shelby on screen but will continue as executive producer. The new series will be broadcast on BBC One in the UK and streamed globally on Netflix.

This development follows the upcoming film The Immortal Man, which was shot last year and is expected to release in early 2026. The movie, set during World War II, sees Murphy return as Tommy Shelby, tasked with secret wartime missions during the Birmingham Blitz. It will also star Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, and Barry Keoghan, and is directed by Tom Harper.

With a global fanbase and a BAFTA-winning history, the Peaky Blinders universe is set to expand once again.
