Patrick Clancy is expecting his first child with his new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, more than three years after losing his three children in the killings that led to his former wife Lindsay Clancy's murder trial.
Patrick and Danis confirmed they are expecting a child during their first joint televised interview on CBS' 60 Minutes, which aired Sunday, Sept. 20. The couple married in April after meeting in New York City in 2024, following Patrick's separation from Lindsay.
During the emotional interview, Patrick reflected on the deaths of his children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, and spoke about building a new life with Danis.
"My life has changed since I met Rachel," Patrick said, describing the change as "in such a positive way."
Patrick said he looks forward to telling his future children about their late siblings. "I can't wait to tell them about their brothers and sister," he said.
His comments came weeks after Lindsay's murder trial ended in a mistrial. Lindsay was accused of killing the couple's three children in their Massachusetts home in January 2023. Her defense argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and was not criminally responsible for the deaths.
Patrick was the first witness to testify at the trial, where he discussed Lindsay's deteriorating mental health and the struggles she experienced after giving birth.
"I think mental illness has this ability to be tragically deceptive," he told 60 Minutes, acknowledging that there were things he may not have recognized at the time.
Patrick also described the final days of his youngest son, Callan, who was eight months old when he was strangled. Unlike Cora and Dawson, who died at the family home, Callan survived for four days in hospital.
"I really thought there was a chance that Callan would live," Patrick said. "I remember just thinking, 'Just give me one kid' and I would raise him as best I could and I would give him the best life I possibly could."
Patrick said he was beside Callan when he died. "I got to hold him. I got to lay down next to him. And he died in my arms," he recalled.
He also addressed online conspiracy theories that have falsely implicated him in his children's deaths, calling them "deeply harmful to the legacy of my children."
Now, as he and Danis prepare to welcome their first child together, Patrick says he remains connected to Cora, Dawson and Callan and intends to make sure their memory remains part of his growing family.
