Federal immigration agents shot and wounded two people in a vehicle outside a hospital in Portland on Thursday, a day after an officer fatally shot a woman in Minnesota, authorities said.

The shooting drew hundreds of protesters to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building at night, and Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield vowed to investigate “whether any federal officer acted outside the scope of their lawful authority” and refer criminal charges to the prosecutor’s office if warranted.

President Donald Trump has confirmed that Sean "Diddy" Combs personally asked him for a presidential pardon but said he does not plan to grant clemency to the imprisoned music mogul.

In an interview with The New York Times published Thursday, Jan. 8, Trump revealed that Combs reached out directly while serving his federal sentence. "He asked me for a pardon," Trump said, adding that the request came "through a letter." When pressed for details, the president quipped, "Oh, would you like to see that letter?" The Times noted that Trump did not produce the letter. A White House spokesperson later confirmed Trump's comments, while Combs' representatives declined to comment.

US President Donald Trump has defended the U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement agent who fatally sh0t a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis, arguing the officer acted in self-defense.

In a statement on the sho0ting, Trump said he viewed a clip of the Jan. 7 incident, which shows an ICE agent confronting a woman in a vehicle blocking a street. As the woman drives off, another ICE agent approaching the vehicle from its front fires three sh0ts into the driver's side window. Read prevous report here.

"It is a horrible thing to watch," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. "The woman screaming was, obviously, a professional agitator, and the woman driving the car was very disorderly, obstructing and resisting, who then violently, willfully, and viciously ran over the ICE Officer, who seems to have shot her in self-defense."

President Donald Trump on Wednesday proposed setting U.S. military spending at $1.5 trillion in 2027, citing “troubled and dangerous times.”

Trump called for the massive surge in spending days after he ordered a U.S. military operation to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and spirit him out of the country to face drug trafficking charges in the United States. U.S. forces continue to mass in the Caribbean Sea.

The 2026 military budget is set at $901 billion.

Two people were killed and six others injured in a shooting outside a Salt Lake City church Wednesday night while mourners were attending a memorial service inside, police said.

The shooting took place in the back parking lot of a house of worship for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Utah-based faith known widely as the Mormon church.

The founder of a notorious Minnesota-based nonprofit, convicted of orchestrating a $250 million welfare fraud scheme, has been ordered by a judge to surrender her Porsche, luxury handbags, and millions of dollars obtained through the illicit operation.

Aimee Bock, the 44-year-old mastermind behind the Feeding Our Future scandal, was found guilty in March on federal charges of wire fraud, bribery, and conspiracy in connection with the nation’s largest COVID-19 fraud scheme.

Bock, who, along with dozens of predominantly Somali co-conspirators, pilfered pandemic relief funds from a federal program meant to feed hungry children in need, is awaiting sentencing for her lead role in the scandal.
