Guo Wengui, a well known Chinese businessman has been convicted by a US court of defrauding his online followers in a billion-dollar scam. He was found guilty on nine of the 12 criminal counts he faced, including racketeering, fraud and money laundering.

An American man who was detained on drug charges in 2023, has been sentenced to 13 years in a penal colony by a Russian court. Travis Leake, a “former paratrooper and musician” was accused of engaging in a narcotics business, according to RIA. Leake pleaded not guilty to the charges, Russian state media TASS said.

Two US citizens are among six people who were found dead inside a luxury hotel room in Bangkok Thailand. The six are said to have likely drank from tea and coffee cups laced with cyanide following a dispute linked to bad investments.
